- The Schlosshotel is a house with history. The Empress Frederick, the eldest child of Victoria, Queen of England, built this house between 1889 and 1894 after the death of her husband Frederick III, king of Prussia and German Emperor. The Empress lived in this gorgeous castle for seven years after Friedrichshof was finished. In 1954, Friedrichshof was converted to a hotel. Just a short distance from Frankfurt City and the Rhein-Main Airport, this aristocratic building nestles amid stately grounds in the beautiful Taunus Hills where you can enjoy these unique surroundings as a guest. The Schlosshotel is surrounded by a magnificent park. The size of this private garden, and the tall majestic trees, many of them from exotic parts of the world, invite guests to enjoy a stroll. The rhododendrons in full bloom, usually typical of English gardens, are a reminder of the Empress' heritage. The rose garden which is kept in the Italian style and a romantic grotto are also exceptional. The park includes one of Germany's most splendid 18-hole golf courses, a challenge to any golfer. The golf course can be used by our guests if they are a member in an international golf club and have a handicap. Furthermore, our guests have the opportunity to play tennis. All 58 rooms are individually furnished with antiques and each room has a style and character of its own. Guests should not just use the rooms - they should be enjoyed. Many of the paintings in the house are from the Empress' own hand. It goes without saying that all the rooms of the Schlosshotel have one thing in common: the comfort and style of a luxury hotel. The Schlosshotel is well-equipped to cater for conferences and celebrations of all sorts. The magnificent and yet comfortable nine salons provide a fastidious setting for a wide variety of functions. The castle's warm, historic atmosphere and the experienced and friendly staff combine to make any festive gathering special. Whether for a birthday party, wedding, jubilee, anniversary, reunion with old friends or to celebrate a business deal, the Schlosshotel has the rooms and service to make the occasion truly memorable. During the winter time we welcome you by our crackling fire. All weekend we offer you original English afternoon tea in the library. Accompanied with piano music you start with a glass of champagne. It follows a choice of teas with scones, muffins, eclairs with whipped cream. This special event will be finished with a port or sherry. The restaurant is appropriately situated in one of the hotel's most beautiful rooms. During summer months, guests can enjoy their meal outside on the terrace of the castle overviewing the gorgeous park and golf course. The cuisine of the Schlosshotel is not only renowned for its classical dishes, the chef has also incorporated the modern influences of today's culinary art. The guest will find everything excpected from an exceptional hotel. Wines come from the hotel's own vineyard.
